Local Hire is a tool community groups around the country use to create living wage JOBS! These policies have already been adopted by several major cities and have proven to increase construction jobs and apprenticeship training opportunities for local residents—especially those from economically disadvantaged and racially diverse communities! Come hear how these policies work and show your support for OUR community’s efforts to win a “targeted local hire” law in the City of Seattle.

YOU ARE INVITED TO ATTEND on Wednesday May 22nd:

LOCAL HIRE “Brown Bag Lunch,” 12P to 1:30P

TARGETED LOCAL HIRING Good for the Economy, Good for the Environment! Good for Our Communities!

THANKS TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED SATURDAY AND SHOUTED OUT FOR GOOD GREEN JOBS AND ACCESS TO HEALTHY FOODS… Check back to see Videos made at the event and hear the voices from our Southeast Seattle communities.

Stand up for good green jobs in Southeast Seattle!

Shouldn’t a project that is being “built green” hire locally from our community? The reconstruction of the Rainier Beach Community Center and Pool is being funded with $14 million in our tax dollars. But the contractors aren’t required to hire and train local workers to do the work. That ain’t green—and it certainly ain’t right!…
